Trump’s government too urges Kosovo to consider USA LNG supply for power plant as PM campaigns for ‘coal gasification’ and renewables

Prishtina, 28 May 2026, dtt-net.com – A USA diplomat today called the government of Kosovo to consider a gas-fired power plant with USA LNG, in a renewed effort by Donald Trump’s government as the cabinet of the Prime Minister Albin Kurti had refused the offer during Joe Biden’s mandate to diversify energy supplies and now is campaigning for coal gasification hoping to find foreign investors for such an massive undertaking aims and renewable energy. The call to Kosovo authorities was made today again by the Chargé d’affaires from USA embassy, Anu Prattipati, during a forum held in capital Prishtina, at the moment when election campaign in Kosovo is ongoing for June 7 election, for which Kurti has renewed his pledges for 'coal gasification' in counterresponse to Washington's ongoing offer since his first mandate of 2021-2025 when he refused a gas pipeline interconnector with North Macedonia for USA LNG from Greek Terminal of Alexandropoulos and a foreign investment for a 250 MWh gas-fired power plant.
