Border crossings by illegal migrants to the EU through W. Balkans down for 16%

Sarajevo, 17 June 2026, dtt-net.com - The number of irregular border crossings into the EU territory through Western Balkans region in the first five months of 2026 was down for 16 percent from a year ago, according to the data of the EU’s Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex). Compared to January-May 2025 period, the number of irregular border crossings through Western Balkans region to the EU territory in same period 2026 dropped to 3600, according to the new data by EU’s border agency FRONTEX.
